Who we are
The data controller is UA Building Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Companies House number 16197151). Our registered office is Chalice House, Bromley Road, Elmstead, Colchester CO7 7BY.
For any data protection question, including a request to see, correct or delete your information, email info@uabs.co.uk or write to us at the registered office.
What we collect, and why
We only collect what we need to do the job you have asked us to do.
- Quote and contact form submissions. Name, email, phone, postcode and a short description of your project. We use these to prepare a written quote and to keep in touch about the work.
- Newsletter sign-ups.Email address only, plus a record that you opted in. Used to send the homeowner's guide and occasional follow-ups. Unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- Site analytics. Aggregate usage data (pages viewed, rough device class) collected without cookies. We never combine this with information you give us on a form.
Lawful bases
For quote and contact submissions we rely on Article 6(1)(b) of the UK GDPR: the processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. For the newsletter we rely on Article 6(1)(a): your consent. Consent is freely withdrawable at any time and doing so does not affect anything we have already sent you.
Who sees your data
We never sell your data and we never share it for advertising. The only third parties that touch it are the suppliers we use to run the site and respond to enquiries:
- Vercel (United States, with EU/UK regional processing where available) hosts the site and stores form submissions briefly while we receive them.
- Resend (Ireland) sends the email that goes to our inbox when you fill in a form, and any newsletter messages you have opted in to.
- Upstash Redis (Ireland) holds short-lived rate-limit counters that stop bots flooding our forms.
- Google Maps(United States) embeds the coverage map on the Contact and Area pages. Loading the map sends your IP address and the page URL to Google, which may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. The map is non-essential to the site and the embed is the only way Google receives your data from us.
Each of these processors handles UK data under either the UK GDPR adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses. We do not pass data to any other third party except where we are required to by law.
How long we keep it
We keep quote and project records for six years after the work is completed, in line with HMRC record-keeping requirements for the building trade. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe. Site analytics is retained in aggregated form only and contains no personal identifiers.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- Tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Erase your data where we no longer need it
- Restrict how we use it while a question is being resolved
- Receive your data in a portable format and pass it to another provider
- Object to a particular use of your data
- Withdraw consent (where consent is the basis we rely on)
To exercise any of these rights, email info@uabs.co.uk. We respond within one calendar month.
Complaints
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
